Valencia is a melting pot of the traditional and the modern, and home to a very warm and friendly population. Tthe city itself and the province of Valencia have lots of tourist attractions, stunning beaches, museums, culture and arts. In short, everything that one would expect to see and experience in such a popular holiday destination. Getting to Valencia is easy, because the city is well connected by air and road to all major towns and cities in Spain as well as other European countries. Many well know low cost airlines are offering daily connections to many mayor European cities from Valencia airport (Manises – VLC). Public transport at Valencia airport is well organized. You will find coaches and taxis, or if you prefer, you can book a cheap rental car in Valencia from one of the car hire companies operating inside the terminal building of Valencia airport. If you are not travelling to one of the many holiday resorts on the Costa Blanca, but are staying in the city of Valencia the magnificent Valencia City of Arts and Science is a must visit. It includes the L’Hemisfèric Planetarium, the leisure complex Palacio de las Artes Reina Sofia, the artificial marine world Parque Oceanográfico, and the Museo de las Ciencias Principe Felipe, a treasure cove of information and artifacts. It is also worth visiting the Palacio de la Música, the Palacio de Justicia or the Miguelete Tower, offering a panoramic view of Valencia.
Historical buildings of interest include the 18th century townhall, the Lonja (World Heritage Site), the 400 year old sea bridge Puente del Mar and the main port. It is also a nice experience to walk around the historic square at the heart of the city’s Old Quarter, Plaza de Manises, or to savor the sight of the 19th century Valencia bullring. If you love history and archeology, no visit to Valencia would be complete without a visit to some extraordinary museums, especially the Museo de Ciencias Naturales, Museo de Prehistoria y Arqueologia, Museo de la Ciudad or the Museo Taurino.
For those who love the sun, the sea, sandy beaches, and water sports there are plenty of those available along the Valencia coastline. Especially the popular resorts of Benidorm, Denia, Calpe, Torrevieja, Javea or the charming Alicante offer more than one would expect from a beach holiday destination.
